Pickup vs SUV at dangerous Dennis intersection

SOUTH DENNIS
– Around 11:25 a.m. Monday a Chevy pickup appears to have broadsided a Toyota 4runner at the dangerous intersection of Route 134 and Airline Road.

The Toyota spun off the road and came to rest on the bike trail on the western side of Route 134 with severe damage to the driver’s side of the vehicle.

The Chevy ended up headed north in the southbound lane with light to moderate front-end damage.

Reports indicate that the occupants of both vehicles were uninjured and declined treatment. Travel on Route 134 was reduced to one lane until the scene was cleared around 12:06 p.m.

Dennis Police are investigating the crash.

Ruth & Gail before and after
EAST DENNIS – One week to the day that she came ashore (top photo -- click here for original story), the Ruth & Gail clam dredge was freed from the grasp of Cold Storage beach in East Dennis Sunday afternoon.

Moved by cranes from the high beach at low tide, the vessel waited for the high tide to lift her free and her sister ship, Dream Baby, to tow her off (bottom photo).

The operation was carried out flawlessly and the Ruth & Gail floated free about a half hour before the 4:45 p.m. high tide.

Adding to the spectacle of the Ruth & Gail rescue mission on March 7, 2010, was the appearance of two powered paragliders zooming up and down the stretch of East Dennis beach from Sesuit Harbor to Crowe Pasture. They provided a much-welcomed distraction as the tide slowly came in.
