March 2, 2010 (YARMOUTH) The Dennis-Yarmouth Regional School Committee continued the budget process last night – looking for ways to trim their spending plan.
The current budget comes in 49.7 million dollars.
But that would require Yarmouth to come up with another 1.7 million dollars over last year.
Superintendent Carol Woodbury says they’ve been making cuts in recent years to staff and programs in an effort to maintain the bottom time.
She says closing the Laurence Macarthur Elementary School in Yarmouth may be the best way to close the gap – but even that wouldn’t meet Yarmouth’s request for level funding.
