Fire damages South Dennis antique shop




DENNIS
 - A fire damaged a South Dennis antique shop located at the intersection of Searsville Road, Great Western Road, and Upper County Road. Dennis and Harwich firefighters were called to 8 Searsville Road, Oxyoke Antiques, around 7:05 a.m. Wednesday.

Upon arrival, firefighters saw smoke streaming from the eaves and roof of the garage-like structure.

As crews entered the building, flames appeared at the rear but were quickly knocked down.

The interior of the structure appeared to be heavily damaged. It was not immediatley clear if any valuable antiques may have been lost.

There were no reported injuries. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Barnstable police officer injured in scuffle at CCH
HYANNIS - A man had to be tasered twice in the emergency room at Cape Cod Hospital after an incident Tuesday afternoon. Sgt Benjamin Baxter arrived at CCH to interview victims of the stabbing incident we reported on yesterday. According to a police report a doctor told Sgt. Baxter a man unrelated to the stabbing was becoming agitated in the x-ray department. The suspect identified as Josh Aaron Bode, 17, of West Yarmouth reportedly uttered expletives and accused Sgt. Baxter of staring him down. Sgt. Baxter ordered Bode to leave the hospital when Bode allegedly struck Baxter. A hospital security guard grabbed Bode who refused orders to calm down and had to be tasered twice. He was arrested for assault and battery on a police officer, assault and battery, carrying a dangerous weapon (knife) resisting arrest and disorderly person. Sgt. Baxter was given a tetanus shot as a precaution after reportedly discovering one of the taser probes in his hand.

Dunkin' Donuts in Centerville evacuated after smoke scare
CENTERVILLE - The Dunkin' Donuts in the Centerville Plaza on Route 28 was evacuated after smoke began filling the shop.

Centerville-Osterville-Marstons Mills firefighters were on scene for about a half hour to mitigate the situation.

No injuries were reported.

Rollover on Route 6 in West Barnstable

WEST BARNSTABLE 
- State Police are investigating a rollover crash on Route 6 about 3:30 a.m. The vehicle rolled into the median eastbound between exits 5 and 6. The driver was not seriously injured. Officials are looking to see if wet roads played a role in the crash.
