Alcohol blamed in latest "suicide alley" crash
BREWSTER - Alcohol is being blamed in a crash on the "suicide alley" stretch of Route 6 Monday evening. About 7:30 p.m. two vehicles collided on the westbound side just west of Exit 12. Three people in the vehicles escaped serious injury and were treated and released at the scene. State Police reportedly arrested one of the drivers on suspicion of operating under the influence of alcohol. The crash created a large debris field causing delays for a short time. Further details were not immediately available.

One injured in Yarmouthport crash
YARMOUTH 
- One person was taken to Cape Cod Hosptial after a late night crash in Yarmouthport. Three vehicles collided on Route 6A at Union Street. Yarmouth Police are investigating. Further details were not immediately avialable.

One injured in Centerville crash


CENTERVILLE
 - One person was taken to Cape Cod Hospital after a two-vehicle crash in Centerville Monday afternoon. 

The crash happened on Route 28 by the entrance to the Centerville Shopping Plaza.

A Chrysler Town & Country van and a GMC Sierra pickup collided.

The GMC was left blocking two lanes of Route 28 causing traffic delays for a time.

The crash is under investigation by Barnstable Police.

Trash truck fire closes Route 6
YARMOUTH - A fire in the rear of an Allied Waste trash truck closed Route 6 for a time Monday morning. The fire was knocked down and the truck escorted to the town landfill where the trash was dumped and completely extinguished. Traffic was blocked for a short time before the truck was moved off the highway. Officials believe a hydraulic leak on the truck may have sparked the fire. No one was injured.

Updated: Harwich crash leads to drunk driving crash
HARWICH - On Monday morning at approximately 2 a.m., Harwich Police Patrol Officer Amy Walinski was on patrol in North Harwich when she came across a motor vehicle crash on Depot Street near Center Street Salvage Yard. A Nissan Maxima was off the east side of the road and was occupied by two people. The driver of the vehicle had sustained injuries to his head but said that he was ok. The Harwich Fire Department was requested to check on both the driver and the passenger.

The passenger inside the vehicle was transported to Cape Cod Hospital for minor injuries. The driver, was identified as Christopher Page, 24, of Harwich. Hariwch Police say Officer Walinski made observations that led her to believe that Mr. Page was drinking alcoholic beverages prior to the crash. Mr. Page was put through a battery of Field Sobriety Tests at the conlusion of which he was placed under arrest. Mr. Page was handcuffed and transported to the stationhouse. He was processed and later transported to Orleans District Court for arraignment. Mr. Page was charged with OUI-liqour, Operating to Endanger, and two other civil violations.

MV Stop results in drug arrest
HARWICH 
- On Sunday at approximately 3:00 p.m., a phone call was placed to the Harwich Public Safety Communications Center reporting an erratic driver on Route 28. The caller stated that a black Nissan pickup was swerving and driving in a manner that may cause a crash. Harwich Police Patrol Officer John Warren observed the vehicle as it turned onto Bank Street. Patrol Officer Warren conducted a traffic stop off the vehicle on Bank Street in the area of Long Road. The operator was identified as Christine Ferreira, 22, of Hyannis.

According to Harwich Police, Patrol Officer Warren spoke to Ms. Ferreira who reportedly admitted that she took Methadone and had smoked some marijuana earlier in the day. Ms. Ferreira submitted to a battery of Field Sobriety Tests at the conclusion of which she was placed under arrest. An inventory of the vehicle and its contents revealed several green pills that where identified as Trazadone and a pill bottle that was taped up and filled with liquid Methadone. Ms. Ferreira told officers that she had prescriptions for both of the drugs but could not provide any. Ms. Ferreira was handcuffed and transported to the stationhouse for processing. A Ms. Ferreira was charged with OUI-drugs, Illegal Possession of Class B Drug (Methadone), and Illegal Possession of Class E Drug (Trazadone). She was booked and later bailed for arraignment in Orleans District Court on Monday. The Harwich Police were also assisted by a Drug Recognition Officer from the Yarmouth Police Department.

Smoke in Falmouth hotel investigated
FALMOUTH - Firefighters were called to a Falmouth hotel after smoke was reported in the pool area. Crews were called to the ShoreWay Acres Inn on Shore Street about 1:35 a.m. It was not immediately clear what caused the smoke but the situation was mitigated and the smoke was ventilated. Guests were not evacuated.

Mashpee Police seek hit-and-run driver
MASHPEE - Mashpee Police are seeking the driver who allegedly ran over a person's foot Sunday night. Rescuers were called to the Sea Oaks Condos on Falmouth Road (Route 28) about 9:50 p.m. and took the victim to Falmouth Hospital for treatment. Anyone with information is asked to contact Mashpee Police at (508) 539-1480. Further details were not immediately available.

Hit and run reported on Mid-Cape Highway
WEST BARNSTABLE - State Police are looking for a red sedan that reportedly caused another motorist to crash on the Mid-Cape Highway (Route 6) about 8:30 p.m. Sunday. The alleged victim contacted Cape Wide News to report they were headed east between exits 5 and 6 in West Barnstable when they were reportedly struck by the red sedan. They say the sedan pulled off up the road for a short time then sped out of sight. The victim believes the red car has heavy passenger-side front end damage from the collision along with some pretty good dings on the driver side where it struck the guardrail before allegedly hitting the victim's vehicle causing them to hit the guardrail on the other side of the road. Luckily no one was injured. Anyone who was in the area and may have witnessed the crash or has seen a red sedan with fresh damage is urged to contact State Police at (508) 398-2323 or your local police.
