Barnstable Police release new details on bank robbery

CENTERVILLE - Police have released new details on how they tracked down the man who allegedly robbed the TD Bank in Centerville Thursday afternoon. They say at approximately 1:08 p.m., TD Bank employees called BPD Dispatch to report the robbery. The suspect entered the bank and approached the teller window. He made a verbal demand from money for two TD Bank employees. He received an undisclosed amount of money and fled the bank. He was last observed leaving the area on foot towards the Centerville Post Office. The suspect was described as a 55-year-old white male. He was reportedly 6’00 tall and had a slender build. The suspect was wearing a dark colored stocking hat and sunglasses. He had what was described as a large band-aid on his face.
Police Investigators interviewed witnesses and viewed the TB Bank security video. Police Investigators believed the “band aid” might have been used in an attempt to cover a scar, tattoo, and/or other identifiable mark on his face.
Based on the physical description and possible facial scar, David R Manley of Mashpee was identified as a possible suspect. Manley has a lengthy criminal history dating back to the early 1970’s. His numerous past arrests include a conviction out of Middlesex Superior Court 09/19/1983. Manley received a 10 year suspended sentence for an Armed Robbery. BPD Detective John York identified Manley as the suspect depicted in the TD Bank robbery.
Barnstable Police Department Detective John York, Patrolman Mark Delaney and Mashpee Police Detectives initiated surveillance at Manley’s residence in Mashpee. At approximately 6:30 p.m., Manley arrived home and was taken into custody without incident. Manley acknowledged his involvement in the robbery to police investigators. He has been charged with a single count of Unarmed Robbery. Manley will be arraigned in Barnstable District Court on Friday 02/19/2010.
Police Investigators are still looking into Manley’s possible involvement in the recent four (4) other TD Bank robberies since 01/02/2010.

Police hire man as informant, then arrest him on drug charges
FALMOUTH - A local man was hired by the police as an informant but shortly after making a "buy" for police last Tuesday, allegedly returned to the same dealer who was still under surveillance and used the money he received from police to buy more drugs. John Yarrington, 23, was charged with possession of heroin. The alleged dealer Cory Noonan, 20, was also arrested on heroin charges.
