Two crashes in Falmouth, black ice may be to blame

FALMOUTH - Sunset led alot of black ice in the Falmouth area as well as other portions of the mid and upper Cape. A driver escaped serious injury after their vehicle rolled over into a tree on Brick Kiln Road about 5:45 p.m. CWN's Eric Tinglof, who just returned from covering another crash, tells us as that soon as the sun went down he couldn't even walk on his deck because of the ice. In the earlier crash (above), which happened in the area of 110 Redbrook Road, a Honda Sport Coupe lost control on the slick road, clipped another vehicle and skidded into a tree. The male driver of the Honda was extricated from his vehicle and transported to Falmouth Hospital by Falmouth Fire Rescue with serious but not life-threatening injuries. The two occupants of the second vehicle, a Volvo sedan, were uninjured.

The Honda sedan missed the support pillars and struck a brick wall. There did not appear to be any structural damage.

Storm epilogue: Still scattered outages, some schools delayed
CAPE COD - Cleanup continues in the wake of yesterday's storm. While not as bad as feared, the upper Cape still got blasted with up to 8 inches of heavy wet snow. Firefighters and NStar crews are still being called to some reports of tree limbs bringing wires down. NStar has extra crews working to restore all service as quickly as possible. Some schools delayed opening but most everything else is up and running on the Cape. See our full storm coverage here.
