Police seek knife-wielding robber in Hyannis

HYANNIS - Barnstable Police are seeking a man who robbed the C-Mart gas station at knife point about 8:45 p.m. Saturday. Officers rushed to the station on Iyannough Road (Route 28) at Mary Dunn Way. A police K-9 dog attempted to track the man but apparently lost the scent a short distance away. The suspect is described as a black male in his 20's, about 5 foot 10 inches tall, wearing a dark sweatshirt, jeans and sneakers. Police are especially concerned with this case because the suspect was more aggressive than most, reportedly actually threatening the clerk with the knife before fleeing with an undetermined amount of cash. The clerk was shaken up but not physically injured. Police ask anyone with information or who may have been in the area and seen something to call detectives at (508) 771-6237. We're checking with Barnstable Police to see if surveillance images may be available. The station is owned by local entrepreneur Christy Mihos who bought it after selling most of his Christy's convenience stores on the Cape.
