Latest report shows a peak wind gust of 67 MPH in Barnstable.
7 p.m. update: Stormy conditions may have caused an electrical malfunction that resulted in smoke developing in a building in South Yarmouth. Firefighters responded to 205 Old Main Street on the grounds of St. David's Episcopal Church. A problem with the heating and ventilation system may be to blame. Elsewhere poor driving conditions may have been responsible for a pedestrian being struck by a car in Hyannis at the intersection of North Street and High School Road. Luckily the victim was treated and released at the scene. 57 MPH wind gust reported in Falmouth this hour.
6 p.m. update: It took much of the day to reach us but problems are now being reported. Wind gusts as high as 59 MPH in Marstons Mills. Several reports of downed trees in the Hyannis area. Oil company repair truck burns in Centerville
CENTERVILLE - Quite a scene in a Centerville neighborhood late Monday afternoon. An oil company box truck caught fire in the driveway of 162 Captain Lijah's Road. It appeared to be a truck used by oil burner repair technicians and not a fuel delivery truck as first reported.
Firefighters confined the blaze to the truck which was gutted. No injuries were reported but the heat from the fire may have damaged utility wires leading into the home.

Car vs. laundromat in Dennisport
DENNISPORT – Around 9:35 a.m. Monday an elderly driver backed his Toyota Camry into the west wall of the Dennisport Coin-Op Laundry at the corner of Hall Street and Edwards Avenue in Dennisport. The exterior of the building appears to have suffered minor damage with two dryer exhaust vent covers bent and one torn off.
Reports at the scene indicate that a gas pipe inside the building was damaged by the force of the collision, requiring authorities to shut off the gas supply to the building. The vehicle missed the exterior gas piping assemblage by only a few feet. The driver was apparently uninjured and refused treatment. Dennis police are investigating.
