Top story: Suspect arrested for mugging of elderly East Dennis woman
DENNIS
– In a press release issued Saturday morning, Dennis Police Captain William M. Monahan reports that at approximately 3:30 a.m. on Saturday morning January 16, 2010, State and Barnstable Police arrested James Wragg, 31, (photo at right) of Orleans, at a residence on Pitchers Way in Hyannis.

The arrest warrant was issued yesterday evening as a result of an investigation conducted by Dennis Police into the Thursday afternoon robbery of an 86-year-old female East Dennis resident, who was assaulted and robbed as she was unloading items from her vehicle parked in her garage. The victim is in stable condition and undergoing treatment at Cape Cod Hospital.

The rapid identification of Mr. Wragg was due in large part to a citizen, who after reading of the incident in the media on Thursday morning, phoned Dennis Police with pertinent information leading to the identification of the suspect.

Dennis Police were also assisted in the investigation by the Barnstable County Sheriff’s Office-Bureau of Criminal Investigation, Orleans, Brewster, Truro and Yarmouth Police Departments.

Mr. Wragg’s 2002 Ford Pickup truck was also seized at the time of his arrest.

Mr. Wragg is currently being held without bail at the Barnstable County Correctional Facility (charged with Unarmed Robbery on a person over 60 years of age, Assault & Battery with a Dangerous Weapon and Assault & Battery on a person over 60 years of age) for his arraignment on Tuesday Morning in Orleans District Court.

A booking photo (taken Saturday) of Mr. Wragg shows that he shaved most of his facial hair following the robbery. Dennis Police are asking that anyone who might have information concerning Mr. Wragg or this incident to call the Dennis Police Department, Sgt. Ben Wunderlich, at 508-394-1315 or the Dennis Police Tip Line at 774-352-1500.
