Former Nantucket sergeant saves drowning baby
NANTUCKET - A former Nantucket Police sergeant is being hailed a hero after rushing to save a baby that nearly drowned in a backyard pool. David Aguiar who is still a reserve officer was driving down Cliff Road when a call came over his scanner about the drowning on that street. He rushed to the address and started CPR along with Nantucket Sgt. Brendan Coakley who arrived shortly thereafter. The baby was taken to Nantucket Cottage Hospital and later flown to a Boston hospital but due to Aguiar's quick actions is expected to make a full recovery.
