P-Town hit & run car vs pole crash A car struck this utility pole in Provincetown and then fled the scene. PROVINCETOWN - A car vs pole crash will likely cause delays for people trying to get into Provincetown at least through the morning. The crash at the intersection of Conwell Street and Cemetery Road happened about 3 a.m. As you can see in the top photo this is a main junction pole with high tensions wires feeding in several directions which is now cracked near the base and will have to be replaced. An NStar truck was on scene when our camera arrived (right). Additional crews are enroute to the scene and will likely be working well into the day to replace the pole. Conwell Street is open at this time but motorists were told to expect delays. By late afternoon repairs were complete and traffic was flowing smoothly. The vehicle that hit the pole fled the scene and is still at large. Police describe it as a silver 4-door Volvo which likely has significant front end damage. We'll continue to update this story as information becomes available.
