Top story: Pedestrian struck, critically injured in Chatham CHATHAM - A pedestrian was critically injured after being struck by a car in Chatham just after 11 a.m. The incident occurred on Post Office Road as traffic and pedestrians were leaving the area after the completion of the July 4th parade.
Chatham Police say when they arrived they found an elderly female had apparently been struck by a vehicle that was backing up. The vehicle operator, 27-year-old Troy Eldredge of Harwich, was not injured.
The pedestrian, 81-year-old Virginia Marchie of Chatham, was transported to Cape Cod Hospital by Chatham Fire/Rescue and later MedFlighted to a Boston hospital.

Man seriously injured in freak accident in Bourne POCASSET - A man was seriously injured after a freak accident. According to reports the man was helping pull a truck out of some mud on Sanderling Drive in Pocasset when the tow chain snapped causing the vehicle to run him over. Rescuers took the man to Falmouth Hospital. Further details were not immediately available.
Three injured in Harwich crash
HARWICH - Three people were injured in a crash on Orleans Road (Route 39) at the bike path. Chatham and Brewster ambulances assisted in transporting the victims to Cape Cod Hospital. Route 39 was closed for about one hour while the Harwich Police investigation took place. Boaters rescued by Hyannis Fire
HYANNIS - Two boaters were rescued by a Barnstable fireboat after their craft capsized. Firefighters were able to get the two victims out of the water after the incident off Egg Island around 1:30 p.m. No one was injured.
Three-car crash on Bass River Bridge WEST DENNIS – Around 12 noon Saturday three cars were involved in a chain-reaction rear-end crash on the Bass River Bridge westbound. The bridge spans Route 28 between Dennis and Yarmouth.
The middle car’s airbags deployed and Dennis Rescue transported the driver and a passenger to Cape Cod Hospital with injuries that were not considered life threatening.
Traffic was slowed in the area but Dennis police maintained two-way travel on the bridge.

Motorcycle vs truck in Harwich HARWICH - A motorcyclist was lucky to escape serious injury after colliding with a truck in Harwich. It happened just before noon on Route 137 at the exit 11 ramp. Harwich Police are investigating the crash.
Harwich Police investigate overnight burglary to liquor store
HARWICH - On Saturday July 4, Harwich Police responded to the Harwich Spirit Shop in Harwichport for a past breaking and entering to the business. The owner of the business discovered the break when he arrived to open for the day. Police say the suspect entered through a back window and stole a cash box and several lottery tickets. The Harwich Police were assisted at the scene by a Criminal Identification Officer from the Barnstable County Sheriffs Office. The incident remains under investigation.
Drunk driver arrested after hitting pedestrian and leaving scene PROVINCETOWN - Police say a man was drunk when he allegedly struck a pedestrian and then left the scene in Provincetown.
Rescuers were called to Bradford Street at Bangs Street about midnight. The victim was taken to Cape Cod Hospital with non life-threatening injuries.
Provincetown Police along with Truro Police located the suspect Lincoln Town Car a short time later at a condo complex just into Truro. A broken mirror and parking light along with a cracked windshield were evident on the vehicle.
The driver, identified as 37-year-old Eric Cedargren of Westford, was arrested and charged with operating under the influence of alcohol, operating negligently to endanger and leaving the scene of personal injury. He's expected to be arraigned in Orleans District Court on Monday.
