Highway mile markers enable quick emergency response
CAPE COD - Over the last couple of weeks Mass Highway crews installed new mile marker signs along the Mid-Cape Highway.

The signs are spaced every 2 tenths of a mile from the Sagamore Bridge to the Orleans Rotary. Mile marker posts were actually first installed many years ago along Route 6 but many have either been knocked down or fallen over.

The signs are a clear way for tourists unfamiliar with the area and even locals who may panic in an emergency to be able to report exactly where they are.

Emergency crews can then respond quickly to the right location.
