Cape Cod Genealogical Society


The Cape Cod Genealogical Society meeting for March entitled "Traveling to Scotland to do Genealogical research" will feature Ralph Wadleigh, a noted genealogist and member of the Falmouth Genealogiocal Society. Mr. Wadleigh will talk to his experiences in traveling to the Islands of Scotland to pursue family research.
The meeting will be held at the Brewster Ladies Library, Route 6A in Brewster on Wednesday, March 10, 2010 at 10AM. The public is invited free of charge.

Cape Chamber launches two-week Sourcebook exhibit at Cotuit Center for the Arts


The Cotuit Cenbter for the Arts and the Cape Cod Chamber of Commerce will present a special exhibit, featuring custom items for the homne created by master craftsmen and artists living on Cape Cod, Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket. The exhibit will run from March 11 through March 27. These featured artists and their beautiful work represent a sampling of what is featured in the brand new Sourcebook of Architectural and Design Elements Handcrafted on Cape Cod, Martha's Vineyard, and Nantucket. Learn Create Share @ Your Library during Tech Week


Local teens will be tuning in at the library as Cape Cod Regional High School celebrates the third annual Teen Tech Week March 7- 13, 2010. They join thousands of other libraries and schools across the country celebrating this year's theme, "Learn Create Share @ Your Library." Teen Tech Week is held annually the second week of March. Winston Churchhill- The Man and His Times


Enjoy an informal discussion about the extraordinary life of this controversial statesman and icon of the 20th century which will be led by Dick Osborne, a member of the renown Churchill Center.
The event will be held on Saturday,March 13 from 11AM- 1PM at St. Mary's Episcopal Church, Rt 6A, Barnstable Village. Bring your questions and anecdotes and join other history buffs and Churchill admirers for a stimulating discussion. A light luncheon of soup/chowder + salad and beverage is included.
Tickets are $15 in advance, $20 at the door. Reservations are recommended.

Cape Chamber unveils new Sourcebook featuring elements for the home crafted on C


The Cape Cod Chamber of Commerce had compiled a new sourcebook featuring elements for the home which are handcrafted by master craftsmen on the Cape and Islands. The Sourcebook of Architectural and Design Elements Handcrafted on Cape Cod, Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket is a resource for builders, interior designers and home owners looking for durable high quality one-of-a-kind, local items for their homes or businesses- whether on or off Cape Cod.

Wild Winter Words: Cape Wildlife Center Lecture Series


The Cape Wildlife Center hosts Wild Winter Words - a lecture series to engage and delight the Cape's nature lovers. These talks, held at the Cape Wildlife Center, 4011 Main Street (Route 6A), in the Cummaquid section of Barnstable, on Thursday evenings, feature wildlife experts from around the Cape and Islands. All lectures begin at 7PM and are free. Mark your calendar for these dates: January 21, February 18, March 18 and April 22.

Cape Cod Landscape Association Scholarship Applications


The Cape Cod Landscape Association is currently accepting applications for the 2010 Mike Stacy Memorial Scholarship. The scholarship fund is in honor of Mike Stacy who passed away in August 1989. A total of four awards are available; three $1,500 awards will be presented to Cape Cod students who will pursue a career in the green industry. An additional award of $1,000 will be presented to a son or daughter of a CCLA member to be used towards furthering their education. All applications must be received by April 25, 2010.
