Community Connections Walk-A-Thon


Community Connections will hold its third annual Walk-A-Thon & Family Fun Day on Saturday, September 18th in two locations, South Yarmouth and Fairhaven, to benefit people with disabilities on the South Coast, South Shore and Cape Cod.
The walk will begin and end at the Community Connections Fairhaven Center, located at 10 David Drown Boulevard and at the South Yarmouth Center, located at 127 Whites Path. Registration will begin at 10:30AM and the walk kicks-off at 11:00AM. Lunch will be provided for all our walkers and supporters. There is no registration fee, and free t-shirts will be given to those who raise at least $50 in pledges. Fun Day activities will run all day with both locations hosting an open house, carnival games and much more.

Magical Mystery Tour Ride


Take a Magical Mystery Tour Ride and back to the American Legion for a cookout with a cash bar and live entertainment with "The Dirty Licks Band".
The event kicks off at 11:15AM from the Burger King parking lot and ends at the American Legion Post 188 on Route 130 in Sandwich.
All proceeds to benefit the Disabled Veterans Association and the Veterans of Cape Cod & the Islands.

Cape Cod September, Standard Flower Show, at Cape Cod Museum of Art


The Village Garden Club of Dennis will host Cape Cod September, a Standard Flower Show, at the Cape Cod Museum of Art, Wednesday and Thursday, September 15- 16. The show, open noon- 5PM on September 15 and 10AM- 8PM on September 16, is free with paid museum admission.

Compass of Hope Gala on Cape Cod


Help make a difference in the fight against cancer! On Saturday, September 11, the Cape Cod and Islands Unit of the American Cancer Society will host its ninth annual Compass of Hope Gala.
The optional black-tie event will begin at 6PM at the Oyster Harbors Club in Osterville.

Cape Cod Museum of Natural History in Brewster


On Saturday, September 11 and Saturday, September 18 from 9- 10:30AM the Cape Cod Museum of Natural History will present Bird Banding Demonstrations with Sue Finnegan, Certified Master Bander and Manager of Wing Island Bird Banding Station.
Reservations will be accepted. $5 cash or check only will be collected on site at front door.
You will learn why bird banding is important and experience the thrill of seeing birds at very close range.
The program will be cancelled if raining.

The Mature Workers Program of Elder Services of Cape Cod and the Islands, Inc. has the possibility of a 20 hour per week paid work experience and/ or skills training opportunity for those of you who are income eligible. Annual Strawberry Festival at Green Briar


The Annual Strawberry Festival is always a special time to visit the Green Briar Nature Center & Jam Kitchen in east Sandwich. Come by on Saturday, June 12 and enjoy a homemade strawberry dessert served from 11AM to 2PM in the historic Jam Kitchen. Fee for dessert is $4.
Stay awhile and visit the nature center's resident animals, browse in the gift shop, view the art exhibits in the two galleries, and stroll the paths of the wildflower garden.

Ongoing activities at Cape Cod National Seashore


Despite the risk of encountering fickle New England weather, visitors to Cape Cod National Seashore will find plenty of enticing activities during an early spring visit.
Salt Pond Center: Open year round, this center offers magificent views of Salt Pond, Nauset Marsh, and the Atlantic; an outstanding museum; and regular-scheduled films shown in the theater. The visitor center is located at the intersection of Nauset Road and Route 6 in Eastham. The phone number is (508) 255-3421.
Self-Guiding Trails: From Eastham to Provincetown, nearly a dozen trails beckon. A guide to all of the trails is on the Cape Cod National Seashore website (www.nps.gov/caco) and at the Salt Pond Visitor Center.
Watchable Wildlife: Whale watching opportunties are plentiful in spring. For dates and times, check the listing of ranger-guided activities on the website.
National Junior Ranger Day and International Marconi Day on April 24: Radio activities will be held from 10AM to 2PM at the Coast Guard Station at Coast Guard Beach, Eastham. Colonial chores and games will be the fare from 12:30PM to 3:30PM at the Atwood-Higgins House in Wellfleet. All children participating in eiterh event will earn a Junior Ranger Patch.
