World Trade Center steel beam on display in Yarmouth police station
March 18, 2013 (YARMOUTH) _ A steel beam recovered from the World Trade Center after the September 11th terrorist attacks in New York City is now on display in the lobby of the Yarmouth police station.
Four officers picked up the 175-pound beam at John F. Kennedy Airport in New York last Wednesday morning.
It was put into a yarmouth police interceptor and covered with an american flag that flew in iraq during operation iraqi freedom. before heading home, the officers also toured ground zero with the port authority of new york and new jersey. plans are being made to make the beam the centerpiece of a september 11th memorial garden at the yarmouth police station.
