Falmouth selectmen to deal with turbine issue at weekly meeting

March 11, 2013 (FALMOUTH) _ Falmouth selectmen could vote on their recommendations Monday night for spring town meeting articles that would take down two wind turbines.

Residents who live near the two windmills at the wastewater treatment plant say their lives have been ruined by the noise and shawdow flicker from the blades.

Selectmen have agreed they have to come down – but Falmouth could be on hook to pay back stimulus money used to put them up.

The total cost to remove them could hit $15 million.

Falmouth State Representative David Vieira has proposed legislation that would create a state fund for towns that want to take down turbines that are harming residents.
