Man arrested for violent domestic assault
YARMOUTH - Yarmouth Police report that on Tuesday at 7:04 p.m., Patrol Officer Mark Noone and several other Patrol Officers and Detectives responded to 100 Route 28 regarding an ongoing domestic disturbance. A female called 911 to report that her ex-boyfriend, Jamie M. Alves, 29, formerly of the same address had broken into her apartment, was still inside, drunk, and tearing up the house.Yarmouth Police Patrol Officers Paul Mellett and Kevin Antonovitch arrived and determined that the suspect had fled the residence and was on foot heading East on Route 28. Mutual Aid Assistance was requested and Barnstable Police K9 Patrol Officer Perry arrived and began to track the suspect.
While Officers were still in the area the female called 911 again to report that Alves was back at her residence, knocking on the front door. Patrol Officer Noone as well as Yarmouth Officers Mellett, Antonovitch, Mary Gibney, Erica Wenberg and Patrol Sergeant Walter Warren converged on the scene and were able to create a perimeter and surround the suspect who was behind the residence in a large water filled gulley in the woods. At one point Officer Gibney reported that Alves was out of the water and running west along a wood line heading toward Camp Street.
Patrol Officer Noone ran toward the suspect and subdued him and he was placed under arrest and transported to Yarmouth PD Headquarters.
A subsequent search of the suspect’s belongings located two clear plastic baggies with 4 small round white pills (Lorazepam) and 3 yellow oval capsules (Gabapentin) class E, and 7 yellow round pills (Soma) class D.
During booking a computer check revealed that Alves also an active Arrest Warrant from the Barnstable District Court a previous Domestic Attack.
Alves was charged with Felony Destruction of Property, Felony Breaking and Entering in the Nighttime, Felony Intimidation of a Government Witness, Possession of Class C Drugs, Possession of Class D Drugs, Possession of Class E Drugs, and Outstanding Warrant for Domestic Assault. He was held at Yarmouth Police Headquarters with bail set at $5,000 and was scheduled for arraignment Wednesday in the Barnstable District Court,

Yarmouth Police investigate two daytime house break-ins
YARMOUTH - Yarmouth Police report that On Tuesday at 2:10 p.m., a resident who was home alone in the basement of his house on Conservation Drive in Yarmouthport heard noises upstairs and found two men in the act of breaking in. The home owner yelled out and the suspects fled. Yarmouth Police immediately responded, heavily patrolled the area on foot and in cruisers with the added support of K9 Handler Patrol Officer Michael Kramer and his partner Kosmo, but were unable to locate the suspects. Both suspects were described as white males wearing dark pullover “hoodies type” sweatshirts.
At 6:15 p.m., a homeowner returned home to their residence on Great Western Road in South Yarmouth and found that it had been broken into sometime during the daytime. Stolen in this break was a large amount of assorted jewelry and prescription medications.
Entry into both homes was made by breaking through rear access points.
Crime scene management was performed by Crime Scene Investigator Terry Dinnan of the Barnstable County Sheriff's Department and both of these crimes are the subject of an active and ongoing investigation lead by the Yarmouth Police Detective Division.

Car vs school bus in Falmouth


EAST FALMOUTH - A Cape Cod Child Development School Bus and a Toyota Camry sedan sideswiped on Fresh Pond Road just off of East Falmouth Highway (Route 28) around 7:35 a.m. on Wednesday.
Falmouth Fire Rescue medics examined the female driver and student passengers on the bus and the two occupants of the Toyota. Although there were no apparent injuries in both vehicles, five of the students on the bus were transported to Falmouth Hospital for evaluation.
Falmouth Police released the following statement: The bus was on Fresh Pond Road approaching East Falmouth Highway, and the Toyota Camry had just turned onto Fresh Pond Road from East Falmouth Highway. The front left portion of the Camry struck the left side of the bus. Both vehicles sustained major damage and had to be towed from the scene. There were 5 children on the bus who were all transported to the Falmouth Hospital for precautionary evaluation. One of the children complained of minor pain from the seat belt. The children ranged in age from 3-10, and were being transported to an early childhood education facility in East Falmouth. There were no reports of injuries from the bus driver, Cheryl Martin of Dennisport, the bus monitor, nor the operator of the Camry John Driscoll of East Falmouth.
The crash is under investigation by Falmouth Police and State Police.

BOURNE - A woman is facing numerous charges after leading police on a chase along the Cape Cod Canal. Wareham Police attempted to stop the vehicle for a routine traffic violation around 1 a.m. The driver took off as a chase wound along the Cape Cod Canal before getting on Route 6 eastbound. The driver reportedly cut across the median going west back over the Sagamore Bridge. The chase ended on Meetinghouse Road by the Dunkin' Donuts. The vehicle reportedly had at least one flat tire though it was not clear of stop sticks were deployed. Wareham, Bourne and State Police were on scene. Further details were not immediately available.
Remains found in Maine confirmed as missing Cape man
KENNEBUNKPORT, ME - Remains discovered last month off Kennebunkport, ME have been confirmed as being those of two boat building students who went missing in December,WMTW-TV reports the Medical Examiner's office positively identified the remains as 23-year-old Prescott Wright of Barnstable (right) and 21-year-old Zachary Wells of Burlington, VT (left).
The two, students at The Landing School, disappeared December 20th during a gathering at Wells' home in Cape Porpoise. The exact cause of death remains to be determined but foul play is not suspected.

BOURNE - Two of six inmates, and the legs of a third (left), are seen here on roof of building situated alongside flight line at the Massachusetts Military Reservation in Bourne, Falmouth, and Sandwich. Their implements of choice were pitchforks and shovels. That’s a sliver of a much larger and longer flight line behind the snow bank, top of photo. This and an adjacent concrete block building were re-roofed last week by the six-man crew dispatched to the site by James Cummings, the Barnstable County Sheriff. The shingles were donated by Home Depot.
