CENTERVILLE - Fire damaged a house in Centerville Wednesday. Crews responded to 137 North Main Street around 3:45 p.m. to find a fire in the attic with smoke showing from the roof. The fire was quickly knocked down and no injuries were reported. The damage was enough that the Red Cross was called to assist the nine residents with temporary shelter. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
Four taken to CCH for possible CO poisoning
BARNSTABLE - Four members of a Barnstable family were taken to Cape Cod Hospital for evaluation after a faulty furnace apparently caused carbon monoxide to build up in their Commerce Way home. The four included two children who had left for school but were taken to the hospital as a precaution.
YPD wins prestigious community policing award
YARMOUTH - The Yarmouth Police Department has received the New England Association of Chiefs of Police Community Policing Award for 2012 and will be presented with the extraordinary award during a special ceremony on Wednesday, February 27, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Yarmouth Police Headquarters.
The Yarmouth Police Department is one of only three police agencies in New England to receive this award. The other two are Manchester, New Hampshire Police Department and the University of Massachusetts Police Department at Dartmouth.
The Yarmouth Police Department was chosen due to our commitment to excellence in policing and their wide-ranging community oriented programs and overall dedication to the community.
The award submission was based on the Yarmouth Police Crime Watch Program led by Yarmouth Police Lieutenant Patrick Carty in partnership with the Yarmouth Police Community Advisory Team. Some of the other Yarmouth Police Department programs featured are:
