Steamship Authority car ferry out of service

February 20, 2013 (HYANNIS) _ The Steamship Authority’s car ferry “Nantucket” is out of service this week.

A message on the boat line’s web site says the vessel will be dry docked for repairs through at least Friday. Water was detected in a bilge yesterday – prompting the repairs.

The SSA will replace the “Nantucket” on the Hyannis to Nantucket run with the freight vessel “Sankaty.”

There will be limited passenger capacity and amenities on those trips.

As a result of the vessel switch – the 10:45 a.m. Vineyard Haven to Woods Hole trips for tomorrow and Friday will not  be available for vehicle or walk on passengers.
