Yarmouth man stopped by police while carrying TV along local street

February 15, 2013 (YARMOUTH) _ A South Yarmouth man spotted by police carrying a television while walking on Highbank Road in Yarmouth yesterday is facing several charges.

Officers stopped Mathew Betts, 32, just after 6:30 last night. Betts initially claimed that he bought the TV from someone in a truck at a nearby gas station.

It was later learned that Betts allegedly stole the TV from an unoccupied motel room in South Yarmouth.

He told authorities he planned to sell it on Craigslist. Betts was charged with felony breaking and entering in the nighttime and felony larceny.
