January 29, 2013 (HYANNIS) _ A fake gun made out of Legos has a 5-year-old Hyannis boy in hot water with his school. Joseph Cardosa was playing with friends at the Hyannis West Elementary after-school program at the time. His mother – Sheila Cruz – says the family received a letter several days later saying Joseph would be suspended from the program for two weeks if he made another gun out of Legos. She calls the move an “overraction” and “overdramatic.” Cruz also says the school should have called her before sending out the letter. The school told Cruz that making a lego gun could be perceived by other students as a threat.
