Cape Cod wastewater panel formally says no to MWRA-type structure

January 4, 2013 (HYANNIS) _The panel that’s been examining how Cape Cod should proceed in dealing with wastewater urges a watershed-based solution.

Andrew Gottlieb with the Cape Cod Water Protection Collaborative says they stress that an MWRA-type authority would be the wrong way to go.

Gottlieb and Cape Cod Commission Executive Director Paul Niedzwiecki spent the past year getting input around Cape Cod.

They believe the solutions on how to fix the wastewater and nitrogen issue should rest with the people who live around the impacted watersheds.

They say the county should provide the technical expertise and technology for local towns as they make their own watershed-based decisions.
