Several injured, one seriously injured in Eastham crash


EASTHAM
- One person was seriously injured in a two-vehicle crash in Eastham shortly after 4 p.m. The crash happened at Route 6 and Hay Road. A Toyota Tacoma pickup appeared to have rear-ended a Ford Explorer waiting to make a left turn onto Corliss Way. The driver of the Toyota was rushed to Cape Cod Hospital with serious injuries. According to reports, six people were in the Explorer including several children. Luckily they were all properly secured in child seats and no one in that vehicle was seriously injured. Because of the total of seven people involved, a Mass Casualty Incident (MCI) was declared. Ambulances from Wellfleet and Brewster responded. Traffic was reduced to one lane each way with minor delays being reported. Eastham Police called in a crash reconstruction specialist as part of the investigation. A Sheriff's Office crime scene investigator also responded to take photos.

Clothing belonging to missing Cape man found in Maine
KENNEBUNKPORT, ME
- Clothing belonging to a missing Barnstable man and his friend has been discovered on an island off Cape Porpoise, Maine. 

Zachary Wells, 21, of Burlington, VT (left) and Prescott Wright, 23, of Barnstable (right) were last seen Wednesday where Wright was living. There was no sign of a disturbance at the residence.

The Landing School, which teaches boat building, reported them missing on Friday after they failed to show to classes.

A ground and air search of the area was planned at low tide.

Medical conditon may have led to crash on Route 132 by mall

HYANNIS
Around 11 a.m. Monday, there was a three-vehicle crash on Route 132 in front of the Cape Cod Mall in Hyannis. A car reportedly struck two vehicles waiting to turn into the mall and then continued across two lanes on Route 132 up an embankment struck two trees, rolled over and then ended upright facing the wrong way on the center medium. The female driver of the vehicle that overturned may have had some type of medical condition which resulted in the crash and was transported to Cape Cod Hospital. There were no other injuries. Barnstable Police are investigating.

Grinch steals Christmas decorations from Yarmouth home
YARMOUTH
- A family tradition in Yarmouth has been marred after Christmas decorations were stolen out of an Old Town House Road yard. The Robinsons decorate their yard with large inflatable figures which included Mickey Mouse in a Santa suit as well as the jolly old man on a hammock. Yarmouth Police were notified of the theft when it was discovered this morning. The family says the decorations are a tradition with their children and 10 grandchildren. They are asking for them to be returned, no questions asked.

- Provincetown Police report two arrests for the past week. All suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Assault and battery on a child with injury
Wanton/Reckless behavior creating risk of serious bodily injury

On December 21st at 11:58 p.m. Det. Richard Alves arrested
Benjamin T. Zeitler, 35, of Provincetown who was charged with
Operating under the influence of liquor
Operating negligently to endanger
Marked lanes violation
Fail to stop or yield
No license in possession

- Truro Police report one arrest for the past week. All suspects are considere innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
