Woman who crashed her car in Yarmouth may have been trapped for hours



December 13, 2012 (YARMOUTH) _ A woman who crashed her car into the woods off Winslow Gray Road in Yarmouth may have been trapped for hours.

A man walking his dog spotted the car just before 7 a-m.

Yarmouth Fire Chief Michael Walker says when firefighters were able to reach the woman – she said the accident had happened at 10 p-m the night before.

Walker says the car’s engine block was ice cold – indicating the vehicle had been in the woods for several hours.

After an intricate extraction effort – the woman – described as in her 20’s from West Yarmouth – was medflighted to Boston with life-threatening injuries.

Walker praised the work of his rescuers – calling their effort extraordinary.
