November 7, 2012 (HYANNIS) _ Cape Codders returned their incumbent politicians to office in Tuesday's election.
In the Plymouth-Barnstable tate senate seat – incumbent Democratic Senate President Therese Murray defeated Republican Tom Keyes by about 13,000 votes.
Republican 5th Barnstable State Representative Randy Hunt held off a challenge from Democrat Patrick Ellis by more than 2,700 votes.
In the newly configued 9th Congressional district – Congressman William Keating easily defeated Republican Christopher Sheldon and Independent Daniel Botelho.
County commission incumbents Mary Pat Flynn and Sheila Lyons were returned to office – with challenger Eric Steinhilber finishing out of the running.
