Vandal damages train in Sandwich
SANDWICH
- (with WXTK) Sandwich Police are looking for the suspect who reportedly hurled a large granite boulder off an overpass striking the Cape Cod Dinner Train. The incident happened off Old County Road near Chase Road Thursday evening, No one was injured on the train, which eventually continued on its way back to Hyannis.

uperintendent of passenger operations Jonathan Babbitt says the train was heading back to Hyannis from the Cape Cod Canal.

The main headlight and housing unit were broken by the boulder. The train rolled over the rock after it struck the locomotive.

Babbitt calls it a “serious offense” and a violation of federal law to tamper with the railroad. Sandwich police and federal officials are involved in the investigation.

No serious injuries in Centerville rollover
CENTERVILLE
- No serious injuries were reported in a crash that left one vehicle rolled over. The crash happened on Route 28 at Old Stage Road by the Sunoco station around 8:20 p.m. Thursday evening. An outside water pipe at the station was damaged. Barnstable Police are investigating the crash,
