October 2, 2012 (HYANNIS) _ A Cape Cod banking executive has been named as one of the top 25 most powerful women in banking in the nation.

Cape Cod Five President and CEO Dorothy Savarese is number 19 on the list compiled by American Banker magazine’s October issue.

The award focuses on the impact diversity in leadership has on financial institutions and the communities they serve.

Savarese assumed the CEO position after 12 years in management at the Cape Cod Five.

She says the award honors the entire extended Cape Cod Five family and is a reflection on the special nature of the bank.
