September 26, 2012 (BOSTON) _ The state gaming board says the first casino license may not be awarded until 2014. 

The announcement was made this week after the state's consultant projected a detailed schedule. 

One of the requirements that could cause a delay is the extensive background check for applicants, which could take up to nine months.

The Mashpee Wampanoag tribe is planning to build a casino resort in Taunton.
