September 26, 2012 (ORLEANS) _ The Orleans Health Department has issued a public health advisory for Uncle Harvey’s Pond.

Testing this week revealed an excessive amount of blue-green algae – above state health guidelines.

Health officials are urging both people and their pets to avoid contact with the pond, including swimming, wading and drinking water.

If you do come in contact – be sure to rinse off.

The Department of Public Health will continue to monitor to pond until safe levels are reached.
