Car seats donated to Dennis nursery schools

DENNIS - On Monday, September 10, 2012, Dennis Police Community Policing Officers Ryan Carr and Nicholas Patsavos handed out car seats to the town’s nursery schools. The Dennis Police obtained the car seats through a grant from the commonwealth’s Executive Office for Public Safety and Security.
As a new school year commences, police are helping to ensure children are safely and securely fastened in proper seats as they travel the roadways. The nursery schools seemed like the perfect distribution points. The Dennis Police Traffic Officers Sgt. Jim Sullivan and Ptl. Richard Troy were instrumental in securing the grant, and the community officers were responsible for distribution. The children also had the opportunity to hear the officers reiterate car safety, and they were given a close-up view of the police cars.
Seats were handed out to Sunshine and Rainbows, The Children’s Workshop, The Dennisport Pre School, and the Scargo School. The seats could be donated to those in need or as extras to help the schools when an emergency arises.
