Days after vote -- still no declared winner in GOP congressional race

September 11, 2012 (HYANNIS) _ Days after the votes were counted – there is still no declared winner for the Republican nomination in the state's 9th Congressional District.

Unofficial returns from the primary show Adam Chaprales leading Christopher Sheldon by fewer than 40 votes out of nearly 22,000 votes cast.

Sheldon had until Monday afternoon to begin the process of seeking a district-wide recount – but did not return calls for comment.

He could also seek a recount in specific towns where he may question the results.

On Friday -- Chaprales said he was moving ahead as if he will be the Republican nominee to face Congressman William Keating, who won the Democratic primary.
