
HARWICH - A 26-year-old female driver lost control of her vehicle on Route 39 Friday night ending up in the woods around 10:30 p.m. The Toyota Camry ended up on its side, where she was trapped until some passersby and Harwich Police were able to extricate her safely. In lower photo Harwich Fire and Rescue transport the victim to a waiting ambulance; her car can be seen in the right background of photo. The driver was taken to Cape Cod Hospital with unknown injuries. Harwich Police are handling the investigation.

MASHPEE - One person suffered serious burns in a flash fire in Mashpee late Friday evening, Officials were called to the Mashpee Village Apartments at 1 Wampanoag Drive about 9:10 p.m. According to reports, the victim was burned when a home oxygen system was ignited by a cigarette. The victim was rushed to Falmouth Hospital. The incident remains under investigation.
Three injured in Bourne car vs pole
BOURNE - Three people were injured, one seriously, in a car-vs-pole crash around 9 p.m. Friday evening. The crash happened in the 600 block of Head of the Bay Road. Live wires were brought down forcing the closure of the road until NStar could make repairs. The crash is under investigation by Bourne Police
Yarmouth Fire gets new ambulance


YARMOUTH - The Yarmouth Fire Department took delivery of a brand-new ambulance on Thursday morning. Built on a 2013 International TerraStar chassis by Life Line Emergency Vehicles of Sumner, Iowa, the new vehicle replaces an ambulance that has been in service since 2003. The new ambulance will have an active service life. Yarmouth is the busiest department on the Cape with around 5,800 ambulance runs in 2011.
