
EAST FALMOUTH - A small airplane crashed and caught fire near the Falmouth Airpark this morning around 11 a.m. One person is confirmed dead while two others were airlifted to Boston with serious burns. A large plume of black smoke could be seen from the location by responding units. The plane was almost completely consumed by the impact and fire. The FAA and other agencies are enroute to the scene to investigate the cause. We will have more details as they become available.

Truck gets stuck under RXR bridge in Barnstable

BARNSTABLE - A truck got stuck under the railroad bridge on Route 6A Saturday afternoon. The cab hit the bridge and then the trailer hit the bridge getting stuck. The truck was able to back up with minor damage and it appeared that there was no damage to the bridge, Route 6A was closed in both directions causing major traffic backups. Barnstable Fire and Police were on the scene. Train traffic was also stopped until an inspector could check the bridge.

Wellfleet man facing drug charges

WELLFLEET - On Friday at approximately 5:12 p.m.,, the Wellfleet Police department stopped a vehicle driven by Louis Almonte, 55, of Wellfleet. It was revealed that Almonte had a suspended license and was taken into custody. During an inventory of the vehicle, officers discovered numerous prescription pills, cocaine and several dangerous weapons. The approximate street value of the seized drugs is $4,000.
Almonte was charged with Operating after Suspension, Giving False Name to Police Officer, Possession with Intent to Distribute Class B, Class C and Class E drugs along with Possession of a Dangerous Weapon. Almonte is being held on cash bail at the Barnstable House of Correction pending arraignment at Orleans District Court on Tuesday. The Wellfleet Police were assisted in the investigation by the Eastham and Truro police departments.

Fire damages Yarmouth restaurant
YARMOUTH - An early morning fire damaged O.C.s Restaurant in Yarmouth. Firefighters responded to 645 Route 28 about 3:00 a.m. to find a fire on an outside deck. The fire was quickly put out but smoke had to be ventilated from the building. The health department was called to check if any food was damaged. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
Fisherman seriously injured in shipboard accident


PROVINCETOWN - A fisherman was seriously injured in a freak accident at MacMillan Wharf in Provincetown sometime before 7 p.m. Friday evening. The crewmember of the F/V San Jacincto was attaching lines to the pier when he reportedly became pinned betweent the vessel and the wharf. He suffered a serious head injury prompting rescuers to call for a MedFlight helicopter. The victim was taken to Provincetown Municipal Airport and flown to a Boston Hospital.
