Boat sinks off Hyannis; 3 rescued by SSA vessel

August 13, 2012 (HYANNIS) _ The Coast Guard says 3 people were rescued after their fishing boat sank in Nantucket Sound last night.

The 40-foot boat was reported in distress late Sunday afternoon about 6 miles off Hyannis.

The Steamship Authority freight vessel “Gay Head” – which was headed to Nantucket -- pulled the survivors from the water and continued to the island.

The Coast Guard is investigating the sinking and was monitoring for any pollution from the vessel.
