August 10, 2012 (MARSTONS MILLS) State health officials are reporting the first positive result this summer for west nile virus on Cape Cod.            

It was detected from a mosquito trapped in Marstons Mills.            

Barnstable town officials are encouraging residents to visit the state Department of Public Health web site for more information on taking precautions.            

A mosquito with eastern equine encephalitis was collected in Brewster last month at Nickerson state park.            

There have been no human cases of west nile this year.            

State health officials say a man from Middlesex County has been diagnosed with triple-e – but that he likely contracted it while traveling outside of Massachusetts.
