7/26 (Boston) Gov. Deval Patrick says he is still weighing whether to ask lawmakers for an amendment to the so-called "three strikes" crime bill now on his desk
July 26, 2012 (BOSTON) Gov. Deval Patrick says he is still weighing whether to ask lawmakers for an amendment to the so-called "three strikes" crime bill now on his desk.
But Patrick also says he's mindful that the legislative session ends in a few days.
The so-called "three strikes" provision has been championed by Les Gosule. His daughter Melissa Gosule was murdered in 1999 by Michael Gentile of Falmouth.
Gentile offered Gosule a ride after her car broke down near the Cape Cod Canal -- then raped and killed her.
The bill includes a provision that would bar parole for three-time violent offenders.
