July 26, 2012 (CAPE COD) Less than one-third of the Democratic incumbents in the state legislature face Republican opponents November.
Those numbers suggest Democrats will remain firmly in control of both branches in the next two-year session.
There are only three locally contested races.
Republican Sandwich State Representative Randy Hunt will face Democrat Patrick Ellis in November.
In the second Barnstable state rep. seat -- Democrat Demetrius Atsalis is facing a primary challenge from fellow Democrat Brian Mannal.
Plymouth-Barnstable Democratic State Senator Therese Murray is running against Republican Tom Keyes.
The GOP holds 33 seats in the 160 member House – and only 4 seats in the 40 member Senate.
