Gov. to sign bill naming overpass in memory of Cape Marine
July 25, 2012 (YARMOUTH) _ Governor Deval Patrick will sign a bill today naming a bridge in Yarmouth after a local Marine killed in Afghanistan.
It allows the North Dennis Rd. overpass over Route 6 to be named after Marine Corporal Nicholas Xiarhos.
The 21-year-old was killed in July 2009 by a roadside bomb. He grew up in Yarmouth and is the son of Yarmouth Deputy Police Chief Steven Xiarhos and his wife Lisa.
Patrick will sign the bill at the Statehouse with State Representative Demetrius Atsalis and members of the Xiarhos family on hand.
The overpass will be named the Marine Cpl. Nicholas G. Xiarhos Veterans Memorial Overpass.
