Woman charged with B&E at Senator Wolf's home, assaulting his daughter
HARWICH
- On Friday morning at approximately 12:15 a.m., Harwich Police Patrol Sergeant John Sullivan Jr, and Patrol Officers Patrick Smith, Peter Petell, and Keith Lincoln were dispatched to a residence on Main Street in North Harwich for a report of female subject who had broken into a home while the occupants were asleep and assaulted them.

Officers arrived and located the suspect who was identified as Abigail McGillen, 21 of Harwich, standing in the driveway surrounded by the residents of the home she had just entered.  Ms. McGillen was very intoxicated and was screaming obscenities at officers and the residents of the home.

The residents of the house told Officers that Ms. McGillen is a complete stranger to them.  She apparently entered their house through an unlocked rear door and was found wandering around inside.  She was confronted by the residents and immediately became physically aggressive placing the entire family in fear.

Two of the residents grabbed Ms. McGillen and tried to hold her down while calling 911.  Ms. Mcgillen kicked and punched both people trying to contain her.  Neither of these two individuals required medical treatment as a result of being assaulted.

Officers asked Ms. McGillen why she had just gone into this home and singled out the occupants for her outburst.  Ms. McGillen said that she thought she was on Shad Hole Road in Dennis, had entered the home to “get her girl’s back” and that her friend Elizabeth was in need of help and that was why she was at the residence.

Ms. McGillen was placed under arrest and has been charged with Felony Breaking and Entering, Assault and Battery to Intimidate, Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon, Disorderly Conduct, and Disturbing the Peace.

The home is the residence of Massachusetts State Senator Dan Wolf.  Mr. Wolf and his family were not targeted by Ms. McGillen and no one inside the residence was harmed. This was a random act committed by an intoxicated individual who was not even certain what town she was in at the time of the incident.

Ms. McGillen was held at the Harwich Police Department on $1000.00 cash bail and transported to Orleans District Court for arraignment later in the morning.

Open house for retiring Dennis Deputy Fire Chief Tucker

WEST DENNIS
– Dennis Deputy Fire Chief Bob Tucker’s colleagues, friends and family members chatted, laughed and reminisced in the fire department’s equipment bay at an open house on Friday to honor the retiring firefighter.

A member of the fire service in both Milton and Dennis, Tucker closes out a 40-year career in, as he says, “the only job I ever wanted.” Though he won’t be on the job in DFD Car 111 any more, he will stay active as a teacher and instructor at Cape Cod Community College, sharing his knowledge and experience with the next generation of firefighters.

Dennis Fire Chief Mark Dellner describes Tucker as a “top-notch professional and a good friend. He will be very much missed around the department”

In the photo, Deputy Chief Tucker (at right) accepts the good wishes of Massachusetts State Fire Marshal Stephen D. Coan.
