June 21, 2012 (MASHPEE) The Federal Bureau of Indian Affairs will hold its second public hearing tonight on a bid by the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe to put land into federal trust.

Tonight’s session will take place at Mashpee high school and focus on the Cape Cod land the tribe wants in trust.            Last night – a hearing was held in Taunton regarding 146 acres in that city the Wampanoag wants for a casino resort.

Approval of the land-into-trust application is required before the casino project can move forward. The tribe faces a July 31st deadline for negotiating a compact with the state.
