Four injured in multi-vehicle crash in Falmouth
FALMOUTH - Four people were injured when six vehicles were involved in a collision during the evening commute in Falmouth. The crash happened on Nathan Ellis Highway (Route 151) at the Sandwich Road exit just after 4:30 p.m. Firefighters used the Jaws of Life to free one driver. Four victims were transported to area hospital. None of the injuries were believed to be life-threatening. Traffic was heavily jammed in the area until the scene could be cleared. Falmouth Police are investigating if one of the drivers had a medical condition causing that vehicle to veer into oncoming traffic.
Attempted murder, firearm charges in Yarmouth
YARMOUTHPORT - On Friday at 8:00 p.m., Yarmouth Police Patrol Officers Erica Wenberg, Paul Mellett, and Kevin Antonovitch were dispatched to 145 Union Street in Yarmouthport for a reported past domestic violence attack of a woman by her boyfriend who may further be in possession of a loaded handgun.
Police made entry into the residence and located the suspect and placed him under arrest for assault and battery. With the assistance of Yarmouth Police Patrol Sergeant Kalil Boghdan a search of the residence was conducted which resulted in the seizure of an unsecured loaded .357 magnum handgun with an obliterated serial number.
The suspect, Michael A. Randall, 21, of Hyannis was arrested and charged with Assault and Battery, Improper storage of a Firearm, Felony Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Felony Assault With Intent to Murder, Felony Assault and Battery while Armed with a Dangerous Weapon, Felony Possession of Stolen Property, Possession of a Defaced Firearm, Felony Breaking and Entering in the Nighttime, and Destruction of Property. He was booked at Yarmouth Police Headquarters and scheduled for arraignment Monday in the Barnstable District Court.
The handgun in question has been seized and with the assistance of the Barnstable County Sheriff’s Department the investigation is continuing.

Man facing OUI charges after Yarmouth crash
WEST YARMOUTH - On Saturday at 12:27 a.m., Yarmouth Police Patrol Officer Michael Wells was traveling on Town Brook Road in West Yarmouth and found a vehicle crashed into some trees and bushes at the corner of Route 28 and Mill Pond Road in West Yarmouth.
Fellow Yarmouth Police Patrol Officers Richard Aprea and Jason Batchelder as well as Patrol Sergeant Thomas Hennessey arrived to assist with the investigation as members of the Yarmouth Fire Department provided emergency medical care to the injured driver who fortunately had no apparent injuries.
After speaking with the operator, Michael W. Miller, 30, of Hyannis, a series of standardized Field Sobriety Tests were administered which resulted in his arrest on charges of Operating Under the Influence of Alcohol and Operating Negligently to Endanger, He was subsequently transported to Yarmouth Police Headquarters and was scheduled for arraignment today in the Barnstable District Court.

Two-vehicle crash injures one in Barnstable

BARNSTABLE - One person was injured in a two-vehicle crash in Barnstable around noon.
A Chrysler PT Cruiser and a Dodge Stratus collided at the intersection of Route 132 and Attucks Lane.
The driver of the PT Cruiser was taken to Cape Cod Hospital with non life-threatening injuries.
The crash is under investigation by Barnstable Police.
Traffic was slowed for a time until the scene was cleared.

Three injured in Wellfleet crash
WELLFLEET - On Monday at 7:25 a.m., the Wellfleet Police and Fire departments responded to a 911 call of a motor vehicle accident on Route 6, north of the Police and Fire Stations. Members of the Police Department arrived on location and determined that it was a two-vehicle crash with injuries. One vehicle was located in the eastbound lane. Route 6 Westbound was closed to traffic and vehicles were detoured off onto Briar Lane for approximately 1 hour.
Members of the Wellfleet and Eastham Fire Departments treated 3 patients that were transported to Cape Cod Hospital with serious but not life threatening injuries.
Police say a Ford Econoline van owned by Cape Abilities and operated by Michael Downs, 64, of Eastham collided with a Mitsubishi Galant operated by Robert LaFrance, 52, of Eastham. Two passengers from the van and the driver of the Mitsubishi were transported for medical treatment to Cape Cod Hospital.
Route 6 was slippery with ice at spots. The van was travelling westbound and the vehicle was travelling eastbound on Route 6, just south of Briar Lane when they collided.
The crash remains under investigation by the Wellfleet Police Department.
