September 20, 2011 (BARNSTABLE) Voters in Barnstable’s precinct three are casting ballots today in a preliminary election for town council.           

Three candidates are running for the seat – including incumbent Jim Munafo and challengers Michael Hersey and Ryan Richardson.           

The top two vote-getters will move on the general election in November.           

Many view today’s election as a referendum on the council’s decision to buy-out Town Manager John Klimm’s contract. Munafo was among those who voted in favor.            Polls are open at the Barnstable Senior Center until 8pm.
