September 6, 2011 (CAPE COD) NStar crews are chasing new power outages today – still related to Tropical Storm Irene.           

Salt spray that caked up on wires and transformers during the storm began washing off in today’s rain – causing some wires to arc and transformers to catch fire.           

In some cases – the arcing burned through the lines completely. At one point – spokesman Mike Durand says about 15-hundred customers were without power.            Durand says the problem will actually be cleared up by additional rain that should wash away the rest of the accumulated salt spray.
