NStar's ad, headlined "'Goodnight, Irene," ran in Friday's Boston Globe. NStar said it was ready for Irene, but it was impossible to predict where damage would occur.

Tens-of-thousands of customers lost power across Cape Cod and southeastern Massachusetts – which makes up much of NStar’s territory.

The storm left about 300,000 of their 1.15 million customers without power at its height.
