August 16, 2011 (CHATHAM) In 2007 – a storm tore a hole in Chatham’s North Beach creating a new inlet and new erosion problems for the camp owners and residents.

After years of erosion – the Cape Cod National Seashore has sent letters to the lessees of the 5 camps they own that they will not renew their leases.

They’re also telling the camp residents that they will have to leave the property by September 15th.

The move has upset several families who use the camps – many of whom have been out there for four decades.

George Price with the Cape Cod National Seashore says they wouldn’t be taking the measure if the structures weren’t in danger of falling into the ocean.

Residents says it’s upsetting this is happening as the Seashore celebrates its 50th anniversary.
