8/9 (Hyannis) Congressman William Keating says the tourist and fishing economies of Cape Cod and the South Shore could be hurt if funding to wastewater management is cut
August 9, 2011 (HYANNIS) Congressman William Keating says the tourist and fishing economies of Cape Cod and the South Shore could be hurt if funding to wastewater management is cut.
The Democrat says the U.S. House of Representatives is set to vote to cut funding in September to the drinking water state revolving fund and the clean water state revolving fund.
Those funds are used to protect drinking water and maintain and improve wastewater infrastructure and management.
He says improper wastewater management can cause pollution leading to wildlife deaths, poor water quality for swimming, and bans on shell fishing.
Keating rallied with environmental advocates and residents at Veterans Memorial Park in Hyannis today to maintain funding and regulations.
