Hyannis Man Pleads "Not Guilty" To Standoff With Police

A Hyannis man accused of holding his mother at knife point and fending off police for nearly seven hours made his first appearance in court on Thursday.

Thirty-year-old Justin Moreira was arraigned Thursday on more than two dozen charges that include kidnapping, armed assault to murder, and assault with a dangerous weapon.

He pleaded not guilty to all charges. Moreira was to appear in court that morning on charges of threatening to shoot up a school but refused to go.

At the time, Moreira was on federal probation for being a felon in possession of a firearm. He next appears in court on April 4th.
