Saturday will be observed as "National Take Back Day" in Hyannis.
The Barnstable Police Department will accept unwanted or outdated prescription medications at the Phinney's Lane station from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Those unable to come to the station on Saturday may also drop off medications at the year-round kiosk, and local pharmacies offer envelopes to make returns that way.
Officials hold the day to keep residents from flushing unwanted drugs away, as they can affect the safety of the town's water supply.
