Teacher On Leave After Controversial Book Read In Class

A Westport teacher is on leave.

The school board is investigating an alleged inappropriate story read in class.

Reports indicate an English teacher at the high school read "Happy Endings" by Margaret Atwood, the author of "The Handmaid's Tale", to their sophomores.

The book deals with sensitive issues like sex and suicide.

Parents said they were not notified about the lesson plan, and that they were shocked when they found out.
