Judge Considers Freedom For Accused "Leaker"

Attorneys for accused military document leaker Jack Teixeira are asking a federal judge to release him while awaiting trial.

Teixeira's lawyers say the government has failed to show that he has an actual ideological desire to harm others.

A federal magistrate ruled in May that Teixeira, a native of North Dighton, would pose a security and flight risk if he were to be released from custody, and the defense has appealed the order.

The Massachusetts Air National Guardsman is accused of accessing classified military documents while assigned to a military intelligence unit on Cape Cod and posting them online.
